How Swishmaster can help you regulate your movement
Sling shot is a triple swing of the shoulder, elbow, and wrist.
- AdvantagesFast speed, it is a human inborn motion.
- DisadvantagesThe palm needs to make a lot of corrections to offset the centrifugal force of the circular motion, the lateral correction of the elbow offset, the instability of the whip tail effect (especially those lack of muscle strength), and the pressure concentrated on the fingertips causes the load to be too heavy and difficult to control the ball, low trajectory elevation angle needs more horizontal speed which will also worsen all previous problems.
Swishmaster style jump shot is mainly a push shot.
- AdvantagesUse the triceps to accelerate the basketball. It is powerful and stable. Pressure from the basketball is on the lower part of the fingers. The dexterous wrist and fingers do the final ball control and corrective movements.
- DisadvantageMost people are not used to the feeling of pushing basketball quickly with their triceps.
Sling shot doesn't work for jump shot
The reason why most people use sling shot and why you should not use it.
More than 99% of people use sling shot method to do jump shot. That is because sling is a method of throwing objects that must be used during the evolution of human. For example, primitive human throw javelins, axes, stones, and other weapons in sling style. The advantage of this method is that it can make object fly very fast, but it has many disadvantages when applied to basketball shooting. The sling motion is large and complicated compared to the push throw. This disadvantage of the large and longer motion is easy to produce small deviations and be amplified by the entire set of long motions. Sling shot will end up with a huge pressure on fingers and causing poor ball control. Whiptail instability is also a problem of sling shot method. Therefore, it takes a lot of practice time and shots (usually more than a million times) for a sling shot shooter to get stable and accurate jump shot motions.
What are the advantages of using the Swishmaster style push shot?
The Swishmaster style push shot method uses a two-stage push motion in the hand part.
The first stage uses the upper arm and forearm, and the second stage uses the wrist and the fingers. The muscle that provides the greatest acceleration in the first stage is the most powerful triceps on the upper arm allowing the basketball to be stably accelerated to the required speed. The upper part of the wrist basically controls the final azimuth and the launch angle of the ball, but, when necessary, it can give the basketball supplementary acceleration force in the final stage. Thus, the push action can stably accelerate the basketball to the speed required for scoring. Using the Swishmaster push shot to make a jump shot is to use the speed of a steady upward jump (the machine guides and helps you train it) plus the steady upward speed of the arm (the machine guides and helps you train it) and a stable control and acceleration method above the wrist to complete the jump shot. Once you have developed muscle memory, your jump shot will be stable and accurate.
